Handmade Victorian Awnings – A Testament to British Craftsmanship

In the 19th Century, when awnings were being installed of the traditional design which we now refer to as the “Victorian”, colours were very limited. Virtually awnings were installed with canvas sail cloth fabric of a muted beige colour with the name of the business hand painted in black. One feature which did vary was the awning box and lath; the Victorian carpenters prided themselves on hand crafting complex timber shapes.

Today, at The Victorian Awning Company, we replicate these designs through the application of modern, CAD, programmes to accurately re-create these old designs in a cost effective, and timely, manner.
