Shreeji x JR – Bespoke Folding Arm Awning Recover, Chiltern Street
Our long-standing relationship with Shreeji newsagents has led to many distinctive awning recovers, often created in collaboration with artists and designers. One of the most striking was with French artist JR, known for his large-scale photographic installations.
For this project, the folding arm awning was finished in a bold monochrome halftone print, using our Edition Fabric. On its own, the design feels abstract, but together with the shopfront, it reveals a striking detail: the window beneath carries JR’s halftone image of an eye, seamlessly aligned with the awning above.
Handmade and carefully recovered to match the installation, the result transforms the shopfront into a piece of street art – a powerful example of how our awnings are more than simple cover.
