Bespoke Victorian Awning for The Yellow Bittern Restaurant, London

For The Yellow Bittern on Caledonian Road, London, The Victorian Awning Company was commissioned to design, manufacture and install a fully bespoke Victorian awning that reflects the restaurant’s distinctive character and traditional ethos.

Handmade in our London workshop, the awning was crafted using time-honoured methods and authentic materials. The timber box was carefully constructed and hand-painted, ensuring architectural accuracy and a finish that sits comfortably within the historic streetscape. Every element was made to measure, from the housing and arms through to the final detailing.

The finished awning features a classic black fabric, complemented by a white valance with custom lettering. The branding was carefully laid out to read ‘Restaurant’ on the left, ‘The Yellow Bittern’ at the centre, and ‘Bookshop’ on the right – a nod to the dual identity of this unique space.

Our heritage range of awnings are hand-crafted using the same skilled techniques that were originally used in Victorian times.
