Many of the largest and most well-known high street shops are identified immediately by their frontage, and a photograph of the exterior is often featured on literature and brochures.
In many cases awnings or canopies will be integral to these images and can become part of the shops trademark. Larger approach awnings can be used to provide cover or highlight entrances and awnings are used over shop windows to provide ambience, shade, and accentuated signage made more visible by steep projections.
